It’s been busy along Glen Goyle…
This week’s working party session saw half a dozen volunteers from the FOGG working party making use of what was brought in by council horticultural officer Paul Fealey – 1125 bulbs [dog’s tooth violets, crocus, snowdrop, bluebell, anemone, squill, daffodil, grape hyacinth] and about 30 varied perennial plants.
Very impressive! As the photo taken by volunteer John Hopkins shows:

The volunteers set to work to get them in the ground, beds and lawn, managing to get all the plants bedded and about half the bulbs – and they intend to be back next week to complete.
As a general note – the Glen receives a lot of visitors and almost all of them are very complementary about the work of the FOGG project: Good will, gifts and donations down the Glen – Friends of Glen Goyle
So, visitors not only say nice things, but also donate plants! To give another example: Spring gifts along the Glen – Friends of Glen Goyle
And this week the Glen received some very special visitors – members of the Bassett family, who lived at the former Asherton House in whose grounds the Glen Goyle park now lie. And they were very pleased with their family memorial bench, which they were able to see and try out for the first time: A perfect spot to remember the last residents of Asherton House and gardens – Friends of Glen Goyle
