WORKING PARTY REPORT AND PHOTOS: 12TH JUNE 2025
The weather has been very mixed – and so there wasn’t a session by the FOGG working party this morning.
But John Hopkins gets back with a lovely report:
We have been watering during the dry spells which has paid dividends. The echiums will flower next year Paul [EDDC horticultural officer] suggests, which will look superb. The bed by the lawn is looking good with regular weeding by the team and new planting with donated plants.
In the lower path area the flowering cornus is looking good.
I have noticed over the last week or so that the Goyle has been found and used by younger teenagers as a play area and since have witnessed a lot of branches broken off and some rammed down the badger set by the path. Also bike skid marks on our new improved section of footway. Worth keeping an eye on.
John continues:
It did turn out very wet so we didn’t venture into the Goyle this morning.
Just been down to tidy up the broken off branches and cut back some bamboo that was encroaching on the flowering cornus. Will continue that next week.
And here’s a photo of a flowering cornus – pretty much as it’s looking down the Glen:

So, thank you John for keeping the bamboo at bay!
