The Sid Vale Biodiversity Group is carrying out water monitoring of the Sid and brooks of the Valley:

And this has been happening in Glen Goyle.
On 31st August 2021, Ed Dolphin recorded the following:
“I had an hour spare and so tried a bit of kick sampling in Bickwell Brook. It is quite low now but still flowing. Most of the collected invertebrates were Gammarus shrimps with a couple of Stonefly nymphs and a single Caddis nymph, which all adds up to clean water.”
