One of the highlights of Glen Goyle is the grand Japanese acer overlooking the lawn.
Here it is captured in its full autumn plumage by FOGG member John Hopkins:

Indeed, it is such a spectacle that these pages have featured it every year of late, including a piece on Glen Goyle in colour [which showed a photograph from several decades earlier, when the tree had been newly planted by the ‘far lawn’] and Japanese maples in autumn along the Glen [which captured other specimens, as well as the largest by the lawn].
