The Trefoil Guild enjoy the early spring down the Glen

The girl guide movement is very active in Devon – to the extent that its former members have their own organisation, namely the Trefoil Guild:

Full Membership of the Trefoil Guild is open to anyone over the age of 18 who has been a member of Girlguiding UK or the Scout Association or who makes the Guide promise. Affiliate Membership is open to anyone over the age of 18 who has not made the Guide or Scout promise but who subscribes to the aims of the two Associations.

The Sidmouth Trefoil Guild meets at 2.30pm on the 1st Tuesday of the month – at the Guide Hut by the Byes naturally.

But this month, they met outside in this fine spring weather – and at Glen Goyle.

FOGG steering group member Phil Lee reports:

Here are a few photographs for today’s visit to Glen Goyle by Sidmouth Trefoil Guild. We have permission to use them on our website.

Four FOGG members were joined by about twenty members of the Sidmouth Trefoil Guild and friends. The weather was very kind to us, and it was not until we got into the formal gardens of The Belmont Hotel, that the keen breeze coming off the sea, hit us. We were favoured with blue skies all afternoon.

Our guests were very appreciative of what we had to say, and of what we have achieved over the last three years.

After leaving Glen Goyle, we meet head gardener Matt in The Belmont Hotel section, who accompanied us through their magical glade, answering our questions, and we finished the visit with tea in the hotel.

Thank you to the Trefoil Guild for being such wonderful (and well behaved) guests. You’re welcome to come again, maybe in a different season.
