Fresh flowers and new growth along the Glen

There are some very special plants along Glen Goyle, from the well-established Handkerchief Tree to feasts of Rhododendrons all along the Glen, and from spontaneous ‘Tower of Jewels’ plantlings to specially donated violets along the Glen.

The latest fine specimens to be photographed by Friends of Glen Goyle working party members include these magnificent lilies. This photo is taken by John Hopkins – who adds the note:

I think these lovely large “funeral type” arum lilies go way back before our time. They sit half in the water of the brook and there is a similar larger clump in the Belmont gardens brook area.

As a piece from last spring suggests, healthy tree ferns are “a beacon for what we are trying to achieve throughout Glen Goyle”
