Clearing paths along the Glen

It’s not actually the job of volunteers from the FOGG working party to ‘clear paths’ along Glen Goyle – as these are maintained by the District and County Councils – whose teams are often seen with brushes and bowers.

On the other hand, members of FOGG are prepared to deal with ‘weeds’ – that is, an over profusion of invading dominant species, such as brambles, which simultaneously get into the beds. So, by keeping such plants at bay – whether just off or well inside any beds, greater biodiversity is encouraged. As well as keeping any human visitors a little happier.

Over the last couple of years, since the group was founded, there have been such spurts of activity. And one such happened last week: 10th August 2023 – Friends of Glen Goyle

Not on the ‘main stretch’ but a side path, walled in on both sides and very prone to protruding bramble – as pictured here:
