Infrastructure along the Glen

There does seem to be some movement as regards ‘infrastructure’ along the Glen – as mooted in the latest newsletter:

Early Spring 2024 newsletter – Friends of Glen Goyle

It’s a bit tricky along this stretch…

PATHS: The engineering department is very aware of both the trip hazards and the potholes – and will be attending to these issue very shortly. As for longer-term plans for an access path from Glen Road across the top of the Lawn, these are also with the District Council engineers.

We need a bench!

BENCHES: After consulting with the FOGG working party at length, the preferred option of new, replacement benches has been sent into the appropriate department – and it is hoped they will be in place in the spring.

It’d be nice to have an interpretation board to welcome walkers and visitors – rather than just a bin!

INTERPRETATION BOARDS: A proposal for two boards (at each main entrance), covering the nature and heritage of the Glen, are about to be submitted – based on similar boards at other green spaces managed by the District Council.

Finally…

SIGNAGE: Following on from liaison between FOGG, Councillors, Streetscene and other key officers at the District Council, some signs have been agreed to – to be displayed at the entrances to the Glen. Look out for news (and photos!) on this very shortly!
