In the early summer of 2024, the Sampson Society visited Glen Goyle and this time last year, the Trefoil Guild enjoyed the early spring down the Glen.
It’s now the turn of another local group to appreciate this charming corner of Sidmouth – as ever guided by the charming John McGregor of the Friends of Glen Goyle.
With thanks to John – and to the U3A for putting together this nice little report and photos of the visit earlier this month:
On Wednesday 4th March, a small group of U3A members from the Sidmouth nature explorers section had a guided walk around Glen Goyle led by John McGregor of the FOGG group. It was a very informative talk starting with the history of the site and how slowly but surely the volunteers aided at times by EDDC renovated the whole area and planted lots of new flowers, shrubs and ferns, particularly tree ferns which like the light shade created by thinning some very large and dense trees. All in all a very good morning without the normal rain.
