The joy of composting along the Glen

Over the years, much of the work carried out on Glen Goyle by volunteers of the FOGG working party has been cutting back overgrowth and clearing the park of dead and rotting vegetation.

This has to be bagged and taken away.

And by now, both FOGG volunteers and Streetscene staff seem to have got themselves into a nice routine, with the former filling the so-called ‘dumpy bags’ and the latter taking the full ones away and returning empty ones at the top of the ‘lawn’ area for the procedure to be taken up again the following Thursday morning.

All of which is taken away for composting.

And so, at working party’s most recent outing last Thursday, five volunteers spent the morning filling four bulk bags. But as one member said: “We could do with a few more!”
