For the fourth year running Glen Goyle was included in the South West in Bloom judging for Your Neighbourhood award and Pride in Parks award.

Two judges, Leslie Jellyman and Barbara Hannah attended with Sue Goode from Sidmouth in Bloom, Councillors Hilary Nelson, Paul Dodds and Ian Barlow with Paul Fealey and Josh Worthington from East Devon District Council Streetscene. Our tour was led by FOGG member John McGregor
Preparation hasn’t been without challenge. No rainfall for weeks and heatwave conditions but Paul Fealey reported back that “it looked wonderful and the judges loved it” so the extra efforts of the FOGG team bore fruit.
Our donated Canna Lillies in the lawn area flower bed were looking particularly good and added colour.

Apart from one cancelled Thursday morning work party session at the height of the hottest heatwave we have carried on regardless. Tidying, cutting back and watering. We are lucky to have the brook running through but that has been down to a trickle at times as, no doubt, others from upstream are drawing water too.
During one of the hottest days I was surprised to see two ladies in swimming costumes sat in the little pond at the north end of the brook. A shady spot usually particular liked by our doggie visitors for a cool down.
