September has arrived and so here we are in Autumn.
What a Summer with 5 heatwaves was it? With no rain for week after week our main concern was trying to keep plants alive so watering with water from the brook has been our key task. This was down to a trickle at times but at last the rains arrived. Tree ferns and rhododendrons have been struggling but hopefully we managed to keep most things alive.
Interestingly, one day when filling a watering can from the brook I managed to collect a wriggling elver so it is good to see there is life in there.
I am pleased to report that East Devon District Council have installed new dual purpose gates on Glen Road. There is now level access to the lawn area, a boon for those less able.

Some of our Friends of Glen Goyle volunteers celebrating the installation.

Since the recent few showers there are bulbs starting to sprout and the first cyclamen that we planted months ago are appearing.
