What’s in a name? What to call the stream running through the Glen Goyle? Part three…

There are some fine photos of the Glen to be enjoyed online.

Here’s one taken by Anthony Vosper, of the waterfall at the top of the Glen – from a couple of years ago, although it’s a view which can be seen at any time of year, so green and lush are the banks:

And here’s another just taken by Anthony, from earlier this month, of the ‘lawn’ section of the Glen:

It’s interesting that he calls the stream which runs through the Goyle ‘Boughmore’.

Boughmore Road is just of Bickwell Valley which then becomes Glen Road. [And here’s an illustrative Sampson property to further show its location: ‘Kings Acre’ Boughmore Road – The Sampson Society]

Indeed, there is more than one name for this brook, as covered on these pages: What’s in a name? What to call the stream running through the Glen Goyle? and What’s in a name? What to call the stream running through the Glen Goyle? Part Two…

So, we now have: the Bickwell Stream or the Wool Brook or the Boughmore Brook.

Such a small stream and so many names!
