Insect life seems to be doing well along Glen Goyle, now that light and air is being allowed in – and variety of plant life is encouraged and planted.
During some gentle clearing along a bank filled with a carpet of monospecies, volunteers from the Thursday working party last week spotted a bumble bee, probably emerging from one of the many holes dotting the bank. It is thought is was a buff-tailed bumble bee – and here’s a photo:
